Spotlight: View from the C-Suite
By Marty Molloy
Throughout its history, W5 has gained extensive experience uncovering insights from a broad range of professionals and executives, using various approaches to understand industries including healthcare, medical devices, insurance, technology, and strategy. We recently ventured into the ever-changing space of supply chain and logistics.
From recruiting through interviewing, surveying, and analysis, W5 understands that research with professionals requires a thoughtful balance of flexibility and structure. W5’s seasoned moderators bring decades of experience engaging professional and executive audiences, with the skill to quickly establish credibility, build rapport, and navigate complex conversations. The result is an exchange that feels less like a traditional research interview and more like a conversation between professional peers, encouraging participants to move beyond surface-level responses and share the experiences, challenges, and perspectives that lead to more meaningful insights.
In this spotlight, we examine how W5 supported an advertising agency and its client, DHL North America, to understand how industry leaders are thinking about and planning solutions for their supply chains.

Research Approach
W5 conducted qualitative one-on-one interviews along with an extensive survey with C-Level and VP/Director level supply chain leaders to understand trends and lend color to their concerns and anticipated solutions. The goal was to understand how they currently approach their supply chains, identify pain points and innovations they are anticipating, and assist the client in identifying opportunities to solve for.
Study Results
W5’s research revealed that while COVID disruptions caught many companies and industries off guard, executives feel they have recovered well and are defending against future disruptions. While expected issues (such as budgeting) showed up, executives revealed some surprising approaches to future-proofing their supply chains including greater diversification, technology upgrades, and strengthening resiliency.
Insights gained from the research allowed the client to not only showcase thought leadership and its strengths for new client acquisition but provided a clear roadmap for future development, messaging, and investment.
